Amazing atmosphere at the top of Mur de Huy

There is no other stretch of the Tour de Paris as famous and as feared as the legendary hill Mur de Huy in Belgium. And today, Team Rynkeby participants climbed the notorious hill one by one in the sunshine.

Lovisa didn’t stand a chance


It is every parent's worst nightmare to hear that your child has no chance of survival. But this is the reality for children diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a tumour located in the brain stem. It’s a disease that no child has survived. "We got 10 months with Lovisa before she passed away", says Thomas Rydström, currently cycling towards Paris with TRGM Malmö as a tribute to his daughter.

“We started from scratch – but we’re always learning something new”

Ahead of this season, the Team Rynkeby Foundation established its first team in Germany. The learning curve has been steep for Team Rynkeby – hohes C Nieder-Olm, but after just three days in the saddle everything is coming together.

Hanna survived the cancer – “A maximum dose was my only chance to survive.”

At the age of four, Hanna Falk was diagnosed with leukaemia. Fifteen years later, after spending many hours inside a hospital, she was told she was cancer-free. “I found out afterwards that I came so close to dying,” says Hanna, who is participating with TRGM Linköping for the first time.

Jette’s daughter was diagnosed with cancer at age 14 – now Jette is cycling to Paris with her son-in-law to help other children with critical illnesses

Jette Haugaard and Kasper Mikkelsen are mother and son-in-law. They’re united on Team Rynkeby for a very special reason.

"No parent should have to watch their child die"

"The more parents who won't have to experience their child dying, the better". That's how Roger Bäcklund describes his involvement in the team and why this project is so close to his heart. Six years ago to the day, on the same day as the start of Tour de Paris, Roger's daughter passed away from skin cancer.

Jette and her team slave from morning till night – with an amazing sense of community

Jette Kaastrup Christensen has been part of Team Rynkeby Ringe’s service team for eight years now. And even though she slaves from morning till night, she can’t imagine summer without the Tour de Paris.

The team gave Annica back the joy to live

Annica Liljekvist’s life took an unexpected turn in November of 2017. The lump she had noticed in her breast turned out to be an aggressive type of breast cancer. After going through tough treatments for several months, she was finally done. Only one month after her last treatment, Annica submitted an application to participate in the Team Rynkeby project. “I don't think rest of the team realise how much they mean to me,” she says.

Betina Vedsted cycled the first three kilometres of Team Rynkeby’s ride to Paris together with her son Jacob, who has been through a long and difficult treatment for cancer.
