It’s been the best trip ever

This year’s Team Rynkeby trip to Paris has taken place exactly as Team Rynkeby Foundation’s director, Carl Erik Dalbøge, had hoped. He’s declared it to be the best trip ever.

The next day, Paris: While Paris is slowly waking up, a large proportion of the over 200 cars have accompanied Team Rynkeby’s 48 local teams on the charity cycling team’s 17th Tour de Paris have advanced a good distance northward.

Today the service teams are free from setting up meal breaks and the cyclists can enjoy their morning coffee wearing something other than yellow Lycra.

The Tour de Paris is over, and for Team Rynkeby Director Carl Erik Dalbøge, it’s time to take stock.

“We have had a fantastic trip – I’ll go so far as to say that it has been the best ever. We’ve had great summer weather with warmth, sun and not much wind. The teams have cycled so amazingly good and safely that we’ve only had very few accidents. And then there’s been a great atmosphere across the teams,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

“The 2018 Tour de Paris will probably be the one against which we will measure all others,” he continues.

A fine finish
With 1,800 cyclists and 450 helpers divided into 48 teams from six countries, the Team Rynkeby field, which yesterday finished the ride in Paris, was the biggest ever.

But despite the size, the finish was exactly what the Team Rynkeby director had hoped for.

“It went exactly as it should. The large number of friends and families created a fantastic backdrop, and the teams were incredibly good at making everything go smoothly. When you are 1,800 riders arriving in the same square from different places in the city within an hour, you can’t avoid a bit of a queue. But there was a strong common understanding among the teams that it should succeed – and it did,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

Praise for the team captains
Even though it’s the day after in Paris today, Team Rynkeby Foundation has already come a long way in the preparations for next year’s Tour de Paris.

“We started preparations in the spring, so naturally we’ll be ready when we reach the application deadline of 17 August. And before we know it, a new Team Rynkeby year will be well underway,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

“We have some team captains and steering groups that have made a tremendous effort this year. The success of this year is largely due to their amazing and dedicated work, and I am pleased that a great many of them will continue in the upcoming season. Their ideas and input will go into ensuring that we can also call 2019’s ride the best Tour de France ever,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.
