Jørgen H.K. Jepsen becomes new director of Team Rynkeby
Jørgen H.K. Jepsen will take up the role of General Manager of the Team Rynkeby Foundation on 1 August 2021. He replaces Carl Erik Dalbøge in the post after having been deputy head of Forening Folkemøde for a number of years.
On 1 August, the European charity project Team Rynkeby can welcome its new General Manager, Jørgen H.K. Jepsen.
The 57-year-old from the island of Funen, takes over the post from Carl Erik Dalbøge, who has opted to retire after 12 years as head of the project.
Jørgen H.K. Jepsen pulls on the characteristic yellow cycling jersey after having held management positions at Post Danmark/PostNord for many years and most recently the Bornholm People's Meeting (Folkemødet) as deputy manager.
In 2017, Jørgen H.K. Jepsen was employed by Foreningen Folkemøde. Here he has since helped to build and develop the enormous success, that the Folkemødet in Allinge in week 24 has become - with more than 3000 debates and dialogue events and about 65,000 guests.
Before that, Jørgen H.K. Jepsen was for more than 20 years employed at Post Danmark/PostNord with responsibility for the group's marketing, sponsorships and events, respectively. Including the main sponsorship for the Danish Cycling Union, Denmark's largest sporting event, the stage race Post Danmark Rundt and the collaboration with various charities.
Strong match in terms of competencies
Precisely the strong competencies within partnerships, events and charity have been crucial parameters in the employment, points out the chairman of the board of the Team Rynkeby Foundation, Ivan Thyregod. “We have been through both a good and thorough recruitment process, and on that basis, we are convinced that we have found the right person to lead the development of Team Rynkeby.
Team Rynkeby is facing some exciting years, where the very strong foothold we have gained during the project's first 20 years in Denmark and the rest of the Nordic region, must now be translated into further expansion down into Europe. It requires a reliable leader, networker and idea man, and here Jørgen's experiences speak for themselves. We are very much looking forward to welcoming him on board Team Rynkeby in August,” says Ivan Thyregod.
The outgoing director Carl Erik Dalbøge also warmly welcomes his replacement.
"I am sure that the board has made a really good choice, and I have complete confidence in Jørgen, who will be responsible for making Team Rynkeby an even stronger and more European project, so we help even more children with severe illnesses and their families. Jørgen has participated in Team Rynkeby several times, so we are quite a few who already know him. So I am convinced that he is also a good match for the project on a personal level,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.
As a passionate cycling exerciser, Jørgen H.K. Jepsen himself participated in Team Rynkeby four times before.
“I still get goosebumps when I think back to 2007 and the first time, I participated in Team Rynkeby and drove into Paris wearing the yellow jersey. During its now 20 years, the project has raised almost half a billion crowns (in DDK) for children with critical illnesses, and every year it activates several thousand participants in a strong community that I myself have experienced the strength of. It is unique in so many ways. For me, it is therefore a completely unique opportunity to be able to help build on the strong foundation that all the volunteer enthusiasts, Carl Erik Dalbøge and the foundation have laid. I am very much looking forward to coming on board and greeting both employees and the many fantastic participants on all the teams around Europe,” says Jørgen H.K. Jepsen.
Privately, the new Team Rynkeby director was born on Langeland, Funen and grew up in Fangel near Odense. Jørgen is married and lives in Kongens Lyngby, Zealand.
