Team Rynkeby establishes six new teams and makes room for 2,100 cyclists

2,100 cyclists across 54 teams in seven countries are expected to cycle to Paris with the charity cycling Team Rynkeby next summer.

Friday, 17 August 2018 is the final deadline for submitting an application if you dream of cycling to Paris with Team Rynkeby next summer.

Europe’s largest charity cycling team will be accepting cyclists to next year’s team during September, and then the training and fundraising work will get underway.

And this autumn there are extra good chances of passing through the eye of the needle to Team Rynkeby, says Carl Erik Dalbøge, director of Team Rynkeby Foundation.

“Interest in becoming a part of Team Rynkeby has been steadily increasing in recent years. Last year we had room for more than 1,900 cyclists, but as we had about 3,200 applicants, we had to disappoint many of them. We are trying to remedy this by establishing six new teams in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Germany with room for a good 200 extra cyclists,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

Six new teams
In so doing, Team Rynkeby will have room for over 2,100 cyclists and 500 helpers on 19 teams in Denmark, 16 teams in Sweden, nine teams in Norway, seven teams in Finland, one team in the Faroe Islands, one team in Iceland and one team in Germany – 54 teams in total.

The new teams are Team Rynkeby Vestegnen in Denmark, Team Rynkeby – God Morgon Linköping in Sweden, Team Rynkeby – God Morgon Agder, Arctic and Haugaland in Norway, while the new German team is called Team Rynkeby – Hohes C Nieder-Olm.

“We have tried to place the new teams in areas where we know that there are many applicants who cannot get a place and or where there has been a great local interest in establishing a team. But there will of course still be places where we will disappoint some applicants – whereas in other places, we’ll have room for just about everyone,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

The ideal application
According to the Team Rynkeby director, there are three things that applicants should focus on in their application to increase their chances of joining the team.

“The ideal application for Team Rynkeby has three pillars. You have to demonstrate your enthusiasm for the sport and the long bike rides. In addition, what can you contribute to our fundraising efforts for children with critical illness? Do you have good ideas and a good network? And you have to show that you want to contribute to the social life of the team. All three pillars are important when the team captains and steering groups start to put together the teams,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

Team Rynkeby will be cycling to Paris from 29 June to 6 July 2019. All applicants will receive a reply on 4 September 2018.
