Team Rynkeby sets new international fundraising record

Team Rynkeby has raised € 9.44 million this year for children with critical illnesses. This is the best-ever result in the history of the charity cycling team.

With the support of more than 6,200 sponsors – the highest-ever number of sponsors – Team Rynkeby has this year beaten the charity cycling team’s own fundraising record from 2016.

Team Rynkeby’s 1,900 riders and 500 helpers on 48 teams in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Faroe Islands and Iceland have together raised no less than € 9,441,283 which is eight per cent more than last year.

“It’s really quite amazing. This year’s participants have made enormous efforts to sign all these sponsors. The total amount is equivalent to each participant – riders and helpers – having raised more than € 4,000 for the fundraising efforts. I don’t know of any other projects in Europe where so many people are raising this amount of money together,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

The large amount will now be donated in full to the organisations that Team Rynkeby partners with in the six countries – where the majority of the funds will go towards financing vital research in childhood cancer.

Amazing goodwill
The new fundraising record was already established in January, when Team Rynkeby Foundation announced that a total of 1,142 businesses had signed gold sponsorship agreements for a minimum donation of € 2,500. On top of that, 28 businesses had signed platinum sponsorships, which start at € 12,500.

“In addition to this year’s participants being extremely hard-working, we’ve also encountered an utterly amazing level of goodwill from thousands of businesses. We’re seeing that businesses have a great deal of confidence in our work, and that sponsorship of Team Rynkeby provides them with a lot of value – especially for those businesses that are good at activating the sponsorship,” explains Carl Erik Dalbøge.

Aiming for a new record
While the 2018 participants can congratulate themselves on a job well done, 2,600 Team Rynkeby participants are going into work mode in an attempt to set yet another fundraising record.

Team Rynkeby Foundation has just begun its sponsor hunt for 2019, and Carl Erik Dalbøge hopes that the new participants can pull off an equally impressive feat.

“I’m fully aware that it’s tough to set records year after year, but we always begin a new season with the goal to do a bit better than we did the previous year. And the teams also become more and more experienced in terms of what works and what doesn’t. I’m filled with optimism,” says Carl Erik Dalbøge.

All clothing sponsorships for Team Rynkeby must be drawn up no later than 18 January 2019.
